So it appears that this issue happens when PMP opens full screen but does not happen when PMP is opened windowed. Then when you click the 'TV Full Screen' mode button, it will actually go into that mode as it should. Now if you close the app completely and open it again, it will start windowed again.

Then when I click the 'TV Full Screen' mode button, it simply reduces the window size of the app but remains using the web UI. It opens full screen and prompts me for my user/password. However, this mode which is accessed by clicking a button at the top right corner, does not seem to work properly on my MacOS install, which is the reason why I never knew it existed. Now by pure coincidence, I have learned that Plex Media Player actually has a 'TV Full Screen' mode that basically restores the non-web UI of the app and which has a decent settings menu again. I recall starting it for the first time, check the settings menu and discover important setting to have vanished from it completely. I've never been a fan of Plex Media Player but ever since it changed the UI to the Web client, I dropped it for alternative clients. I can also provide logs to anyone that would like to read them. I have also emptied the cache for most agents, reset the agent list to default order (I had moved the Plex Premium Agent first under Artist/Albums), and other normal things like restarts, power cycles, etc. Here is a video of the constant scroll in case I did a bad job explaining the symptoms.Ĭurrent: Version 1. Only recently and the items that have recently been added do not seem to pop up on the scrolling list, yet of course, I can not read everything nor have sat and watched it completely stop.

Now, this has not been a problem for 1+ years. Point being, all walks of life in terms of matching. It happens to stop on a few constant titles, but they are either very popular albums, custom albums, or personal items that would not be found. It does seem to focus in on similar titles but it's moving at the speed of light through a ton of files. If I stop Plex, and restart it, it will not occur until I add something new. However, over the past few weeks, I have noticed a constant "Downloading Metadata./Matching." going on all the time. I have had a Plex Premium Music Library for over a year now, and the base music file folder structure has not changed, short of adding new content. That underlying knowledge leads to: What is the minimum I can back up and still successfully restore a PMS? Can I leave out the cache? Is there a way to filter media/metdata info that isn't actually changing? It was modified today, but the copy from yesterday in my backup has the exact same content. I understand caches and logs, but I would love to understand a bit about what is happening under the hood.įor instance, when looking at this file: Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Media/localhost/3/.bundle/Contents/Subtitles.xml Why are so many files being modified to accomplish those tasks? Especially in the Metadata and Media folders. This all happened from one day, watching a few videos, and having 3 new videos added and scanned. Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Logs - 47 files Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Media - 660 files Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Caches - 673 files Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Metadata - 2316 files Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Cache - 312 files An average day for me has a list like this: I'm trying to optimize my backups, and I notice that Plex seems to do a LOT of updates to specific folders under Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server, even when nothing is watched or new shows are loaded.
